Personal: About Me!
During our coaching sessions the focus is upon you 100%, but if our relationship is to be a special one in your life, you probably need to know something about me and my background. And although I am unlikely to volunteer very much else about me during our weekly sessions, I will willingly answer any questions that you may have at any time. Just ask.
History
I was born into the war years in
England: immigrated with my parents at the age of 8 to South Africa, which remained
my home for the next 44 years! During the first 20 years I married, traveled extensively,
enjoyed raising my 2 children, and was divorced. Subsequently I experienced my own
career success, and challenged my societies preconceptions (and my own, to be quite
honest!) by marrying my soulmate 20 years younger than myself. In 1995 we joined
my, by then, adult children and their families, in Oregon, USA and feel that weve
come home. We love our life here. In the year 2000, I will turn 60 so in terms
of life experience
well, there is not very much that can shock me
anymore!
I have been privileged to see the very
best and the worst in human nature, and despite much evidence to the contrary have decided
to believe that we all do the best we can with what we know at the time.
My Mission Statement
I do everything that I love, and I help my clients do the same.
Just for Fun...
I really do do just about everything that I love! I am consciously perfecting the art of Self indulgence. I practice the Presence of God, and pray and meditate several times a day. I enjoy just hanging out in nature, watching the trees grow, the rivers flow and the bees buzzing around the flowers. (We care for 29 bee hives and the bees generously share their honey with us!) I coach because I love how it stretches me and allows me to connect at soul level with my clients. I love creating experiential events which are fun and rewarding for both the participants and myself. I read extensively, my left brain wanting ever more input!. I journal daily, and am writing my first book, called "Walking on Water," about practicing the Presence of God for very practical results! I swim pretty much every day. I spend at least a couple of hours a week playing with some sort of art - silk painting, glass fusion art, floral arrangements and water colors, and have a little shop in a crafters mall.. I facilitate "Re-sourcing" groups which utilize creative crafts - painting, collage, writing, and speaking to reconnect with one's soul messages and inner wisdom. I enjoy quality time with my husband (specially afternoon naps!) I am not a party girl, preferring quiet dinners or picnics, with my wonderful family and a few dear friends, sharing music, lots of laughter and intimate discussions. I am very much a work in progress - I like to think that my "imperfections" give my family, friends and clients permission to be less than perfect themselves! Phenomenal Woman, that's who I'd like to be!
What I am not!
Even though I have been a counselor for many years, and both the training and experience add to my ability as a coach, coaching and therapy are very different professions. What I am doing now is NOT therapy, and my clients should be aware of this. I offer advice fueled by my common sense and experiential savvy, (and Coach University training) and will always refer my clients to other relevant professionals when necessary. I am not a C.A., a psychiatrist, psychologist or, for that matter, a psychic, even though intuition and prayer are the mainstays of my personal grounding. My intention is to integrate both left and right brain wisdom to offer a new perspective to my clients.
Professional Experience:
I am currently associated with Coach University, a masters level training in the art and the craft of coaching. This supports my clients with an incredible access to information, experience and resource people. If I get stumped for options and possibilities, I have a network of talented coaches to inspire me and brainstorm with.
